Here to help you crush your goals.
Where I’m Going
Running has given me an opportunity for new goals and challenges. As a runner myself, I hope to push my limits through endurance racing. I ultimately decided to coach to give others a chance to hopefully see running the way I see it. I get so much enjoyment out of introducing others to the sport of running and now I want to help others with their running goals, too.
Background & Training
The decision to coach was based on reflection with my experience in running. The reason I came to love the sport was because others brought me into it with them. From there, I learned the basics of what it meant to be a runner.
Earlier in 2023, I decided to get certified as a Running Coach to learn the fundamentals of a coaching relationship and building programs for runners. With my UESCA certification, I am able to help with race planning, assessing running gait, nutritional strategies, recovery modalities, establishing goals, and helping you execute on race day. UESCA uses science and evidence-based content from experts across multiple disciplines to help educate coaches on how the body functions and how to apply that knowledge to runners of all levels.
My Running Journey
It started with getting lapped in the 1600m in middle school. My journey in running started with falling short and assuming this wasn’t what I was cut out to do. With runners in the family, I assumed that those genes didn’t belong to me and that I just didn’t have the body type to run. Running was either seen as a punishment in sports, or an attempt to lose weight. Nothing for enjoyment.
Following undergrad, I had a chance to live in Raleigh and surround myself with friends who enjoyed running. This is where I learned to love the sport. The community it provided, the physical and mental benefits that followed a run, a chance to push myself to excel at something. Running became something I looked forward to. Running shifted from something I had to do, to something I get to do.
I enjoy endurance running, especially on trails. One of my favorite places on earth was Umstead Park before we moved away from Raleigh. My ultimate goal in running is the 7 World Major Marathons.
